Our History

Island Network is a large community organisation spread over 3 wards. The Island Network is an umbrella group representing 12 Black Asian Minority Ethnic led organisations operating in Tower Hamlets. The umbrella group was created 8 years ago to establish a cohesive and structured method of working to address issues and problem’s faced in the BAME communities. The groups and organisations are made up of community development institutes, faith groups, youth forums, and women-led organisations. Our vision is to serve and ensure that all BAME members are represented so they can seek to promote and serve the community. The collective membership represent over 3,000+ residents residing in the London E14 and surrounding areas. The Island Network supported 5 schools with 70.000 volunteer hours, served 50.000 meals during the Covid-19 lockdown.


Md Taluktar, main coordinator of the Island Network scheme has been awarded for the efforts the community made to help during the Covid pandemic.
